Inspired by the Fauves - Van Gogh in particular. For this piece I used a combination of wax crayon and oil pastel over paintd with water colour and gouache, I was trying to achieve the impression of impasto brush strokes that the 'Fauve' painters commonly used.

This work was inspired by a magazine article about the impact of pollution in our oceans, particularly creatures getting caught in plastic and loose nets. There is a significant piece of braided cord incorporated into this work and although the original has been sold, the canvas prints still show the mixed media effect well.
