The Artist at her Desk

Denise lives in a little piece of paradise just on the outskirts of New Plymouth. She is a self taught multi media artist. She has been playing with clay since the late 1970s and produces wall tiles and sculptures depicting the flora and fauna of Aotearoa. She has been consistently supplying her works to galleries throughout New Zealand for a number of years. As a painter she prefers to work in acrylics on board and canvas, sometimes incorporating mixed media and collage effects. Also an accomplished portrait painter, her work is held in many private collections. Denise is also a freelance illustrator and author who has been published with Penguin Publishing, she produces a wide variety of illustrative styles, releasing her own widely acclaimed (mixed media style) children’s title “Pepetuna” in late 2008. She has recently taken a break from production to study a few tertiary level papers in photography and web media. With the completion of a new purpose built studio/ gallery, she intends to expand on the current community lessons she is tutoring.
